Hello everyone,
I have 6 other Vintage jap motorcycles and I recently acquired a 67 v7 with
27.5K on the odometer. I have not been on the open road with it yet because
I have not finished going through. It does have low compression in one
cylinder and the other is fine. There is no metal in the oil or anything
drastic like that. The bike seems to run fine and stop ok.
I have a couple questions if anyone can answer them.
1. What is the top cruising speed on a 67 v700?
2. How many v700s were made?
3. Does anyone know of a automotive filter that would fit into a stock
airbox of a v700?
4. What type of oil is best to use for this motor?
5. Does anyone have any extra parts for a bike like this?
6. Anyone know where I can get a sprung solo saddle?

Thanks,
Chad

Our list is now up to 143, welcome new members, and tell us about your
loopframes! Hope to meet several of you at the WNY raly this weekend.
Hey!!! That's me! I just signed up thanks to Dennis in Dallas, I've
been an MGNOC member for several years, and did a frame up resto on a
'71 Ambo that won people's choice at the National rally in New
Cumberland W. Va. a few years back. For those that are interested, you
can see the bike at
http://content.communities.msn.com/isapi/fetch.dll?action=get_album&ID_Commu
nity=Laverda&ID_Topic=45

This is also the site that I use to display the decals I make as a
result of the Ambo restoration. In the first digest I received I
recognized a few of you guys who have bought the decals over the years,
Tom Short for one---hi!
One of the reasons I joined this list is that I just picked up a
'69 Ambo that's going to get the full treatment, and figured that you
guys would be a good resource. I have already made up a small run of
thin vinyl diecut sidecover decals for the '69 (for sidecovers without
the louvers). I noticed that nobody makes them and was able to scan an
old original water decal that was lent to me by Larry at GT Motors. If
anybody is interested in a set you can contact me off list.
What I'm looking for is a pair of toolboxes for the '69 Ambo, the
ones without the locks. The ones I have are repairable but rusty around
the hinges and I'd like to find a better set if possible, NOS would be
nice if I'm not dreaming. Anybody out there have any leads? Or nice
boxes?
And to the guy contemplating the purchase of the '69---buy it if
its a deal. The '71 I got sat in an unheated garage with a dirt floor
for 15 years with no carbs attached (didn't come with them, either).
After cleaning out all the mouse debris and adding the carbs, it fired
right up. I never did have to go into the engine, and it's had over
20,000 faultless miles (if you don't count the bent valve on the way to
Mid-Ohio. It soldiered on over 40 miles on one cylinder---I love these
bikes!). I handed the valve over to my brother who bent it back and it's
gone another 5000 miles without incident, including a trip from Ohio to
Sturbridge, Mass. Did I say I love these bikes?
