Ian and others. Do NOT abandon those venturis. Correct, the K&N's won't
mount over the venturis. The venturis have lips to hold the original rubber
air boot. However, these venturis are VERY important for proper airflow in
the carb, easy starting, high rpm, good fuel mileage, etc.

So, you need to unscrew the venturis and take them to some machinist friend.
They will quickly lathe off these retention lips on the outside so the K&N's
will fit OVER the venturis.

Re-attach the venturis and add the K&N's and you'll be happy. I rode a 73
Eldo for probably 8 years with K&N's on the carb body. Someone finally
turned me on to the proper installation and I was amazed an my totally new
motorbike.

Loopless now.
