Hi Juha,
I was told it was to correct for one manifold being longer than the other. Cheers,
Charlie

So it is time to start a new riding season ! My bike is a -72 GT850 with 29 mm VHB carbs. Several manuals seem to give different settings for the idle mixture screws in the left hand right hand carbs. After tuning the idle using the idle mixture screws and the slide stop screws it really seems that I can reach smoothest idle when the mixture screws for the left and right cylinders have a difference of about half of a turn. So everything is OK and exactly as the manual says. But curious as I am I am now just wondering the reason for this. Is it because A. the left and right cylinders require a different mixture ? or B. in order to provide same mixture for both cylinders the mixture screws need to be adjusted this way because of some design feature in the CD & CS carbs ? Could someone on the list enlighten this ? Best regards, Juha Vattulainen (Finland) PS.
