<< Richard,
I believe that the Provinces of Ontario, Quebec, and New Brunswick have a
reciprocal agreement with New York and Vermont. So that means if you get a
ticket in any of these states or provinces it will be sent to you through
the computer to your home residence. If you are from outside of these areas
I believe that they will make you pay on the spot.
Also...I believe that the cost for the tickets have gone up considerably.
Even with the exchange rates.
One more thing...if you have an outstanding ticket (that you may have
thought you got away with many years ago) this can prove to be a big hassle
when you cross the border. I remember a friend telling me that he was held
at US Customs and not allowed to travel to the US until he pay up a $50
ticket that he got in Texas a couple of years back. By the way...the ticket
price had grown to $300 by then.
I just thought I would mention that for anyone thinking of travelling to the
Ontario Rally this summer or tripping through Canada...eh? :-)
Regards...Ian

thanks Ian - well there goes my trip this summer to Cabot trail etc - the
other tickets were on 40 horsepower-soooooh
I met a guy from NYState this year - in the Yukon
he had a ticket from tenyears ago -unpaid fro BC- he thought that saince he
was clear of BC - and was doing the Ferry system to the US - he was clear - i
laughed - and asked if he ever heard of a computer?
I asked a friendly RCMP in Manitoba(again- rod block this time) and he
laughed too - affirming what i thought. I am sorry to hear about the
rciprocity in those provinces- two years while on my way to PEI - crossing
thru New brunswick - I got zapped ( those 3 positioned digital radar guns -
fore , aft , side - are murder- and i always seem to get it coming from the
front on a two laner)
the officer stopped me , very politley gave me a warning ( which blew out of
my stich down the road) and waved me on
guys I was traveling with in Ontario were hit with guns( radar) at some speed
- they paid right there ( but did not have to)
hopefully i will not have any more stories to relay to you - I try to stay to
a sleepy 70 mph in canada - hopefully that does it - it seems embarrasing to
have a have a radar
detector mounted stealth ( along with all that carbon fiber parts) on My
slash 6's
Thank you Richard
