Hello All,
If a set of the Eldorado police mufflers ("slashbacks") are needed as patterns for
new stainless reproductions, I have a set that are available. I'd gladly send them
to whoever is responsible for production at EPCO if the possibility of having
repros done is real. Of course I'll need them back when EPCO is finished with them.
:-)
Cheers,

Tom,
Although you didn't state it, I presume that you work at Epco. I
didn't realize that you would be looking at this Topica subject, but I'm
glad you caught it. Unfortunately, I don't have an example of this
muffler, but you may be right about its similarity to the Eldo/Ambo
mufflers you currently make. I will see if I can get you a picture of
these mufflers (does anyone out there have a digital photo?), which I
believe would be more popular than the 'torpedo' style you currently
make.
While $400 is expensive for a pair of mufflers, in the long run it
may in fact be cheaper since they will definitely last more than 2x
longer than chromed steel mufflers.
I will need mufflers within the next few months after the rest of the
bike goes back together, and hope that Epco can make some of these
'slashback' mufflers for me.
Thanks for responding,
Brian Murphy

 Brian,

Somehow I think that I'm missing some of the e-mail postings. If you
have an old slashback muffler that I can look at maybe we can build them

without a lot of new tooling. It can be rusted out, dented, etc. Seems
to
me they were basically the torpedo shape with the end of the muffler
slash
cut instead of tapered. Hopefully they are the same diameter which
would
make it a lot easier.

Another thing I think we've talked about were stainless headlight rims.
We finally have them done and they are gorgeous. Price came out the
same as
the plated ones.

Find me a pattern for the mufflers or at least a good picture that we
might be able to measure. A pair of mufflers would be better since we
can
make weld fixtures directly from them.
