Bruce
do you live near Carlisle? or just went for a show?
I live about 1/2 hour away and went the first year when I moved here. about
20 years ago
Haven't been back since. Its funny, when you live close to a place it
doesn't seem so special.
Like when I grew up in NY and didn't visit the Statue of Liberty until after
I moved away and came back for a visit with friends

I've had problems with both petcocks on my Eldo for quite awhile. I
reversed the gaskets which reduced the drippage but not entirely.
Called up several Guzzi parts places and found that two-hole gaskets for
the older petcocks were NLA. Their suggestions were to buy new petcocks
with the adapters.

But being an enterprising fellow, I went looking for fuel-proof
gasket
material and found it in a small sheet of Viton rubber of the same
thickness (actually a bit thicker but I attribute that to compression of
the old gasket over time). Then I bought a set hole punches at a
Carlisle car show vendor that just happened to have two correctly sized
punches to make up the gaskets. I did this early this winter and there
hasn't been any leaking at all from the petcocks; the bike is in my
garage with a full gas tank. Long term testing continues to see how
well they will hold up under riding conditions and continual usage.
Rich Z. has been somewhat amiss in not replacing his gaskets but I'm
sure he'll correct this as soon as he reads this note....

I use my original gaskets as templates to locate the two smaller
holes;
I have the aluminum square-bodied petcocks. So for $1, I'll send you
two gaskets and if they don't work out, send my back your original
gaskets and I'll see what I can do. The reason for the charge is to pay
for postage, envelope and the rest goes toward a draft Guinness.
