First I have had plumbing Teflon tape on my threads for about 6
months now without any visible problems.
Second, I have a set of replacement internal gaskets that Bruce
Giller (no Bruce I still have not installed them yet) made and offered up to
the list a while back (at the ridiculously low price of $1 was worth the try
I thought).
Thirdly I purchased what I thought were origional replacement
petcocks from Wessons in the UK. They turned out to be the early steel kind
but with a real on and reserve position. I am keeping the pair for the time
when nothing else is available and the current ones give up for good. They
were about $50 for the pair shipped from the UK.
Fourthly, At the moment the left one only leaks while you are
turning it on or when in the forward position. I use the right one and try
to always keep the tank full.
And lastly how do you line them up properly if you don't use the
thin adjustment washers? I never have seen them cause a leaking problem,
unless you use too many of them.

Hi All,
Well...I must say...I am about sick and tired of always dealing with
leaky
petcocks.
The originals on my 70 Ambo are seeping a bit and I was wondering
what
others have done to combat this cantankerous issue. By the
way....does
standard plumbing thread tape hold up against gasoline?
Regards....Ian
