I think you have it a little confused, you can use a VW generator (from a
Type 3, not a Beetle or Bus) to replace the guzzi generator, but not an
alternator (unless you are a really good machinist or fabricator, not to
mention how do ya wire it up?). The VW generator pulley has to be changed
tho and they require some attention to lining them up to make it work right.
I did see someone post something about using a Fiat alternator in place of
the stock generator, but don't know anything beyond that. Also, if ya go
from marelli to bosch, you have to change the volage regulator too.
I'm just glad someone had already done the VW gen conversion on my bike
before I got it!
