Hi Tom,
I had a Type III generator laying around too, so I tried it on my Ambo.
There are a few issues. I bought a pulley from JC Whitney, about 5 bucks
in chrome. I think Mark mentioned a while back that this conversion would
require the stock belt cover to be cut down. I can confirm that this is
true if you use a VW pulley. I wonder if the pulley fitted to the Bosch
Guzzi generator will fit the VW item? Secondly, the Type III generator
housing is stepped in diameter. This will require a shim or spacer to fit
the generator clamp properly. If the installation requires the belt cover
to be cut, I think I will stick with the stock set-up.
