Just my two cents,

My current 69 Ambo has the slots cut in the sides of the dash, so the
fairing goes there. But there are also the two threaded holes on top of the
handlebar clamp which is where the fairing attached on my original '70 Ambo,
back in '70.
I was shocked to find the dash cut like that when I got this bike, but
lacking the other brackets, I just left it that way.

Hey,

I was lucky. On my 69 Ambo the dash was already cut. On my 70 Ambo I am in
the same dilemma as you. Do I cut an uncut dash? I too have Scots/German
(father background Scottish and mom a kraut) so tough for me too.

I have decided to keep my 70 stock so it will be without a fairing and
uncut
dash. I'll just have to remember to wear a full face when I ride it. Last
time I was wearing my half helmet and I got stung in the ear by a wasp.
Not
fun especially when you're mildly allergic.

I'd still be interested in the brackets if you didn't need them.

Regards...Ian

Thanks for the info Ian. The frugal Scots/German in me won't destroy a
perfectly good part. You did confirm my suspicions and I am loathe to cut
up
that dash or the bracketry. I'll see what I can cobble up out of 3/4"
flat

 stock.

 Hi,

You need to cut the dash so the bracket can fit. Doesn't look bad if you
do

it neat. I have that bracket set up with a National police fairing.
Looks

 really good.
