New tires on old bikes should be inflated to the tire manufacture's
specifications, not the motorcycle manufacture's original instructions. Tires
have changed a lot in the last 30 years. Most new tires call for 30-40 psi.
You may want to experiment with inflation pressures depending on how you use the
bike and what kind of load you carry. A couple psi can make a big difference in
the way a bike handles. A good digital tire pressure gauge is a big help too
and not very expensive.

Dave

Question: is this lower value for the 30 year old Ambo based on tire technology of the day for something else I don't know about? The Metzlers on the bike point to much higher pressures than the manuals suggest. And does anyone then have modern day tire pressure recommendations or does it vary by manufacture? Just curious again. Thanks, Rich |
