Is it the looks, the age,=20 |
My Ambassador was 2 years old when I bought it, 28 years ago, so it was not=
an
age thing at the time.
the connection I feel with my fellow Loopframe Guzzisti when I look at= |
Who knows....All I know is she is part of my family.=20 |
At the time, the only Guzzi was a loopframe, and there was no connection=
with
other Guzzi owners. I wanted an Eldorado from the moment I saw my=
Ambassador.
But they were too expensive. $2100. I only paid $1400 for my Ambassador.
I love the silhouette from the side. I love the way the headlight sits=
between
the forks, kinda low.
I love the big fat fork tubes. I love the side cover and tool box design.
Most of all I love the shape of the tank and the chrome side panel, and the
white pinstripe on black paint. I love the front fender brace and the way it
goes around the front of the fender. Very fine and simple, not gaudy.=20
While we told Guzzi we want the new bikes to have the flavor and look of the
loopframes, they took the Eldorado front fender off the 1100 and changed the
mounting system, then put fake plastic chrome strips on the side of the
fender,
and called it the EV. B-(=20
The newer Guzzi's just did not impress me as much as the loopframe. My EV
runs
so nice and I can sit on it for ever, and look over to my Ambassador and=
feast
my eye with the sight of it.
Dreams do come true to some eh? :-) =A0Regards...Ian |
