the difference between Ambo and Eldo is stroke, the bore is the same, the
rods are the same, the Eldo crank has a stroke of 73mm versus 70mm on Ambo,
the pistons therefore have their pins in different locations, the 88mm
cylinders will work but you must have the right pistons for an Ambo stroke.
Heads should work.

This brings up a question I have. I bought a set of overbore 88mm C/P's that came off of an Eldorado, and I want to use them on my Ambo. I know that they have been machined to fit the case, but I am wondering if anything must be done to my heads? I have put the parts together without bolting them, and everything looks good. I just want to make sure I do it right! I'd appreciate any advice/opinions on my problem. I have a '73 El Dorado which I'm in the process of restoring. (See attachment). I've got it running great, with one exception: a loud "tapping/banging" noise from the right cylinder above 3000 rpm. I thought it was a valve train issue, so I replaced the rocker arms, which were a little wobbly feeling, and put new bushings in them. That didn't help much, so now my belief is that it is piston slap. A couple of people confirmed my opinion - and the fact that the noise diminishes when under load, either accelerating or decelerating, seems to bear this out. In any event, I'm prepared to replace the cylinders and pistons. I've located a lightly used set (on ebay) that are billed as 1000cc @ 88 mm bore. My question is - will I need to do anything significant to the heads or carburetors to accomodate the increased displacement, or should it just be a case of installing the new cylinders/pistons and making mixture/idle adjustments? Anything I should watch out for in the disassembly/assembly process or is it staightforward? Informed advice would be greatly appreciated.
