I have seen three different ratios in the final drive.
The standard Ambo ratio is a little taller then the
Eldo, but not a lot. I have the eldo gears in my Ambo
final drive, though in an Ambo case (or so I
understand, though I didn't have the work done
myself). There is also another really low-ratio (ie,
high rpm at highway speeds) gear set that was for
sidecar rigs. If you have the standard Eldo gear
ratios, then you will turn a few more rpm at highway
speeds then do most Ambos but I think it's along the
lines of 230 more rpm at 55 mph. You may be doing
around 3500 rpm at 55 mph or so - I don't have a tach
on my bike, but I think that's about right. This is
more rpm then some other twins turn at highway speeds,
but less then many four-cylinder bikes.
Now I know I'm talking like I know what I am talking
about, but I actually have never rebuilt one of these
things - this is mostly second hand info.
