Tom,
Check it out, after talking to several bike shops, and receiving a few
comments like try riding out the clutch before changing it. Here is the
story, I took the rear tire in for replacement so I could reasymble the rear
of the bike, after talking to the mechanic he tells me to go to a lot and
ride the bike to see if the cluctch would start working. Today I called
Harper's for some gaskets and asked their opinion, he confirmed it might be
worth a chance. Well seeing as I still had the tire off, I got a wild hair
to try this idea but with having to actually ride it. I fire up the bike
pop it into second gear (no grinding) and let the drive train turn, I use a
cresent wrench for leverage on the lever and after reving it a little a
couple of times the damn clutch starts working. So I guess all I need is
the cable and a bike battery and I can give her a test run around the block.
I have decided that if everything feels right I will trailer it over to the
guy in Pensacola you suggested for a good check out so I am sure it is safe.
I will still be working on a getting the tank re-chromed and painted and
that type of stuff, but hey looks like I will be able to do some riding
pretty soon.
Talk to You later,
Rick
