Subject: side stand vs. center stand

I have grown tired of hearing my side stand rattling so I took it off. Is
there any situation where the side stand works better than the center stand
besides being easier to use? Knowing my luck, someday I'll regret having
removed it.
Also, re: my clutch cable...the ball end came off so fo $5, I had a new one
silver soldered back on (if silver solder can hold carbide teeth on a
circular saw blade, it should have no problem here). Saved $30+ vs. a new
cable...hope it doesn't come back to haunt me.
