A word of caution: I overhauled an Eldo a few years ago that had 165psi in
both cylinders. On dismantling I found plating was completely shot, mostly
above the ring swept area, but a write off anyhow.

 doni-
you're right. while a low mileage lapd is a heck of a find, his lack of
cooroperation is disconcerting. i know fron experience that it's BAD for
an
old guzzi to sit too long, although 2 years might be ok.
the most important thing to do is a compression check. if there's any
less
than 160lbs. per side [and, needless to say, both sides should be close to
the same], then it will need a top-end job. see, the older bikes used a
chrome-plating in the cylinders. i found most of mine laying in the
oilpan.
 [mine sat for 16 years].
look for obvious stuff, like oil-leaks, etc. the forks & brakes are real
simple to fix up. i would say look at the bike, and if it speaks to your
heart, and you have the greens, go for it! if you are looking for an old
loopframe [ambo-eldo], they are around. usually, not too cheap, though.
need
any help, we're here, man! good luck!
