Hi All,

I changed my pistons, rings and cylinders (to nikasil). I did it because I
figured that if I was going to spend all that money on a new set of
cylinders that should last 100,000 miles I might as well install new pistons
as well.

I understand though that this isn't an option for some and the pistons might
be fine. I had no choice...my pistons were worn to the limits at the bottom
end (the skirt?). I suppose that if you take the measurements as defined in
the manual (top, middle, bottom) and the specs fall within the limits then
the pistons are ok to keep using.

My personal opinion is to go with the nikasil.

One thing to consider is, no matter if the
sleeve makes your cylinder as good as new, you will still be running a used
and worn piston.

Anyone have any experience with sleeved cylinders, good or bad?

Those of you who have done them what clearances do you use? I ended up with
-2 thousandths to install the cylinders and 3 thousandths piston to cyl.
