I suspect what Tom is talking about are the tube knee guards that were found
on LAPDs and Californias. They mount to the valve covers. The ones with the
rubber pads that were mounted to the the intake manifolds started with the
T3 LAPDs/FBs/Converts, any of the split frames with floor boards. They can
all be interchanged between those models. There are also updated ones that
can be used on the bikes with rubber mounted carbs/FI as well.
The other type used on the SPs and CXs are actually mounted to the fairing
lowers. You wouldn't be able to mount them to the Eldos/T3s etc.
