Yep. You know how some days everything just "clicks" and you just want
to keep riding until you're too tired to stay awake? Sunday was one of
those days, but family obligations the next day made me end it all too
soon. I'm going to have to plan at least one more weekend trip before
the snow flies. Maybe down to Elkins or Cass, WV when the leaves reach
peak color to ride the rails a bit. Otherwise the only events left on my
calendar are local rides and shows - the MD/DC Rally is just too close!

Sound like you had a pretty good time on the way back! |
Had a great time at the Ohio "Plain and Casual" Rally this weekend. I didn't arrive until 3pm, but it was a beautiful day and relaxing ride out. Nice to meet John Fish and put a face with the name. There was a nice burgandy full-dress Eldo there with Harley Electra-Glide mufflers on it - didn't get a chance to talk much with the owner and his wife (or get any info for the Loop List) though. It really sounded off when a group of us were riding for supper later! Had a great time hanging out with all the "usual suspects". Nice location for the rally - secluded and quiet, hard to believe it's probably only five miles as the crow flies from the <ahem> slightly less scenic area across the river around Weirton. Nice twisty road in too! Ran "Sophia" pretty hard on the return trip and nothing broke or fell off this time :-). Really accelerated and handled quite we'll in the twisties on WV20 and US50 for a big ole touring barge loaded with camping gear. Took me 8 hours for the 320 miles partly due to the undulating and curvy pavement, my needing to stop and eat every 3 hours and answer questions from the Harley (and metric cruiser) dudes (and dudetes) that were drawn to Sophia like moths to a flame. One lovely dudete exclaimed it was prettier than her dudes Softtail and got a frosty glare from him. Guess I should have stuck around in case she needed a ride! |
