Engine and frame numbers usually match each other. There should be a
data plate on the steering head that lists the engine number. This
number should match the number stamped into the motor.
It's raining Eldos up here in Seattle. In the last week, I've had three
thrown at me that a friend of mine bought. The first was a '73 police
bike for $600. The second was a '74 civilian (one of the mutant ones
with Amal carbs and Marelli electrics) discer for $750. Yesterday a
one-owner, always garage-kept, 8,800-mile '74 California (police dash,
board, chrome fenders) with 4LS brakes for $2,800. That one's a keeper,
for sure. He's a happy camper, now, but isn't sure he can live with 4LS
brakes, so we may swap the disc front end onto it.
