Joe, you might want to look on ebay or other sites and see what that
model/style loop is selling for and the condition of those bikes. Then
subtract off what you think it would take to get this bike to that
level, ie: cost of jugs, bearings, cables, etc. I'm working on a '81
kz550 for a friend. The bike's been sitting since 85 and needs a lot of
little things, which add up in cost. By the time the bike is done he
will have the average cost of that type bike in it. He bought the bike
for $350 and it will take 400-600 to get it into good condition. Just an
example. BTW I paid $3k for a '73 Eldo that kind of ran with 21k miles.
Mostly small repairs, rebuilding the front end now. I would consider
these bikes an investment, mainly because I don't plan to sell it.
