Hi Bruce,
Unless your forks and seals are in really good shape, stuff tends to get
inside there along with rusty corrosion, etc. I change mine every year
and I'm always amazed at the nasty state of the fluid that comes out.
OTOH, the fluid in my 2000 Quota never seems to show signs of
contamination. Just do it when you are already greasy and oily and nasty
from some other job (and be sure to have a couple of extra sealing
washers on hand from MG Cycle for the drain screws).

The 50 wt motor oil has resided in my front forks for about 4 years now. Is there a time limit for the usefulness of fork oil? I really can't see much need to change it since not much is going on inside the forks. Bruce '72 Eldo |
