Well, I swapped a bicycle for this old girl 5 weeks ago and she was
filthy, rusty, ripped up seat, sat for 4 years in a storage shed. But
after cleaning the plugs and poionts, she popped right up and roared.

Now she is down to the frame, (thanks mostly to Paul Linn's patience and
emails!), the fenders, tank, side panels, and such are all painted and
waiting on the decals and clear coat. Frame is ready to be blasted and
painted. I have a custom Mustang solo seat with 5" springs ready to slap
on when the rest is together, and now the fun begins!

I finally got the engine out. Took off the valve covers, it looks really
clean inside, surprised the hell out of me. One question, the rods that
come up where you adjust the valve nut, they look to be at an angle,
almost if they are bent somewhat, both heads look like this. Is that
normal? Should be pulling the heads later today or early this week as
well and will order head gaskets, should be able to look at the cylinder
walls and see if I got lucky or not with the chrome lining. May take
some pics today as well. Also, the generator bracket, looks like I have
to remove that oil line to get it off. The oil inside the boot where the
u-joint is looks like it had water in it or something. Is this just from
sitting, or is it indicative of larger problems in the trans? What's the
most efficent way to check for issues on the trans while it's off
without tearing it all apart? I hear the 4 speed is a real bear to rip
into.
