Hi Ted,
I've heard of guys draining the oil, filling the crankcase with
kerosene, and running the engine for just a minute prior to an engine
overhaul. That would definitely "flush" it.
That technique would scare me, so personally, I'd just go buy some cheap
oil from wal-mart, fill it up, run it, and drain it a couple of times.
