Yup, I committed sacrilege last night. I cut the rear fender on the Ambo
to start the transformation. A bit hesitant at first. It was a very nice
bike if I do say so myself. I think I had to realize that the chapter
for that motorcycle is closed, time to start a new one.
So I could have spent hours trying to hammer the rear fender back, only
to have fall short of what it used to be, plus paint, frt fender, ect.
OR cut the bad part off. I think of it as 19th century surgery, loose
the arm to save the body....
So I sent a few hours exploring a couple options, My pal and I cut down
a tail section from a sportster he had. Ehhh, not so much. Then I
explored the option of bolting sheetmetal to the tail end of the frame
and saving the rr fender for anouther day. So I cut a peice of carbboard
as a template, painted it black and laid it on top of the rr tail
section of the frame. ok sort of cool, just a flat "shelf" back there.
Still, not so much. The look I wanted definatly called for cutting the
rr fender.
I have to admit, it looks pretty mean. I like it! My buddy compared it
to a bulldog look. Next I will loose the crash guards, figure out a
seat, bars & figure out what to do about the frt fender. Well, I have to
get it running also.
Gonna take some photos if someone wants to post them let me know.
