Greg,
The bevel on the oil ring goes up, the step on the middle ring goes down
(according to Guzziology Section 4 - pg.31/32). Some rings have "Top" or
other markings printed on the top side, though they've likely worn off
your used ones. Cheers,

The oil ring has a bevel on one side, and the middle ring has a step shape on one side. Now I figure the oil rings bevel goes down to allow oil to roll up there.
