I meant the alternator/genertor light goes on. I have Greg's Alternator conversion on my Eldo.
It shouldn't make a difference.

"When I got the engine to rev up to about 2-3K RPm the gen light started to glow dully." That was my symptom on the ride out to the National. Turn the key to the on position, gen light on, start it up and rev low, light off, rev high, light started to glow. Recall I changed out my Voltage Regulator at the rally, but Mark E seems to think if I would have flashed the field on the old VR, it would have come back to life. I understand if the battery is disconnected for any reason, it is a good thing to flash the field on the VR again to make sure the charging system is working. Incidentally, when I came to a stop light on the ride out when the charging system was not working, the Ambo spit and backfired then totally died, battery was dead. Perhaps this is the same reason your Eldo is not running right, not enough juice from the battery to generate a solid spark in the cylinders? Good Luck.
