Okay, so I had the 5 speed transmission that I put it and it was
making some scary noises in 5th gear, I noticed a few funny
noises in neutral too but nothing extreme.
I took the transmission off and shifted into 5th on the bench
and spun the input gear and could hear a bit of clunking. Didn't
get it in the other gears. Then I noticed the nut on the output
shaft was loose I could turn it with my finger. I tightened that
up and the noise went away. Loosened it and the noise came back.
Now, I want to think thats it and put everything back together
but I DO NOT want to do all that and find its not the problem
after all.
Does it make sense to any of you gurus that a loose tranny
output nut would cause racket that is if not ONLY in 5th gear at
least a lot WORSE in 5th gear?
