Glad to see you figured it out. I know the "down to the wire" feeling,
been working on this Ambo restro since Nov 2004. Figured it would have
been done in March but one thing lead to another. Shake down ride shook
out the busted gen bracket bolt, an oil leak from the driveshaft boot as
well as a leak from the final drive. Replaced the boot, tightened down
the final drive bolts, and fixed the gen bracket (I hope it holds) then
sprung an oil leak on the oil line under the gen. Diassembled the bike
again for the ump-teenth time but nobody locally had new aluminum
washers for the oil line bolt. I had bought 3 from Harpers the week
prior when I bought the new split driveshaft boot not realizing there
were 2 washers per line.
Took the new washers off one of the cylinder lines to use on the main
line above the gen and reassembled the bike. Had 2 good washers left so
I hooked up one of the cylinder oil lines. I ordered a handful more
washers from MG Cycle and was praying they would arrive before Thursday.
Happened to be out in west NJ yesterday and stopped in a BMW m/c
dealership to see if they had any aluminum or copper washers to fit the
bolt and got lucky. Bought six, payed BMW prices ($1.80 each!). Got
home last eve and installed the other oil line, fired her up, and took
her for a quick test drive. So far so good, no more oil leaks and the
gen appears to be secure (knock on wood!). Right down to the wire, 1
day before leaving for the National (hope the rain stays away). Hope
nothing else "shakes out" during the ride to WV. Will be packing up the
bike this eve and will be watching the weather channel..........
See you at the National.

Well I wish there were an edit function so I could get away with not admitting that I missed the fact that the top of the caliper is just a cover that pops off. It was so nicely made that it looked like all one piece. My only excuse is that it's 1:30 in the morning and it's time to go to bed before I screw something up, like my brakes.... Lannis |
