I talked to a friend who has a bike shop and is an Italian motorcycle
specialist. He said to drain all the oil out and refill the bike with
the EXACT amount that your manual calls for. Then screw your dipstick
all the way in and mark where the oil level is on the dipstick with a
file after you pull it back out. This will give you an exact reference
point as to where the oil should be. So oddly simple. Forget about one
thread in or touching the top of the threads. There are so many ways to
dip your dipstick it makes my head hurt. No pun intended.
