Hi Ray,
Could be that the bend is there to get the pedal out farther for easier
access with the floorboards, especially for tall-booted law enforcement
types. The floorboards hinge up, so the kink is probably there so it can
mount in on the rail and the toe pad still be easy to stomp in an
emergency situation. Cheers,

I have two brake pedals. One came off the bike as I bought it, stock civilian. The other came with the stock floorboards I found. That one has an odd bend in it about halfway along the length, as if it were designed to go around something for clearance, although I can't see what.
