Todd, assembly lube is extra gooey stuff you use on crank bearings and such when assembling motors. Helps with break-in. My motor sits on the bench, gooped up with asembly lube inside waiting its rebirth...soon. The washers you got are actually used as bearing races and go one to each side of the bearing. I just learned that and might actually sound like I know what I'm talking about. I installed on my tranny last week and posted my story of not being able to insert the outer body all the way in. Turns out there was an old cone way deep in there preventing the install. Pulled it out with an old dental pick I got from the school here. I love tools! Beware of old cones. Ray,
Ok....now I know what assembly lube is. :-) Never heard of it before, but
then
again I have never assembled an engine.
While taking the bits and pieces of the old caged bearings from the
plunger orafice (sounds almost pornographic) I used a small mirror to
check the inside to make sure all the junk was removed. Don't wanna
be doing this again.
Todd
