Linkage is adjusted. Will test out the shifting during the next test
drive.
I think I may have found the problem with the oil light. Took the
speedo housing off, pulled the oil light from the speedo, turned on the
key, no light as suspected since it is not getting 12V from the speedo
housing. Next I checked for continuity from the bulb housing to the
wire that connects to the sending unit. No continuity, then I wiggled
the wire, continuity present, then wiggled it again, continuity gone.
Looks like the wire connection to the bulb was bad. I happened to have
some spare idiot light bulb housings from when the speedo was rebuilt,
so I swapped it out and hooked it all back up. Light was back on, then
I pulled the wire off the sending unit and the light WENT OFF! So, I
think a bad connection may have caused the problem. I gather if the
wire going from the bulb to the sending unit did not have continuity,
the light must have been getting it's ground source from the speedo
housing? Can't figure out what else would have completed the circuit to
allow the light to come on and stay on earlier today without having the
circuit grounded through the sending unit. Final test will be next week
when I fire her back up - hope that darn oil light goes out when she is
running!
Stay Tuned!
