Hi Noel,
You might check with the local Autozone, Advance Auto, etc. for exhaust
adapters that are 1.5" i.d. to ?" o.d. (you didn't mention the inner
diameter of the Bubs). I looked in my NAPA catalog and theirs start at
1.75" i.d. so theirs won't work. Hopefully one of the others might have
smaller ones.
If not you might try taking the pipes and mufflers to a shop that does
custom exhausts and have them expand a piece of pipe approx 3" long with
1.5" i.d. to fit the muffler inlets on one end. On the other they'll
need to cut some slots about .75" long so that the adapters will clamp
onto the headpipes without having to use huge clamps. Doesn't hurt to
use an exhaust sealant at each joint - some folks like Hi-temp Permatex,
I prefer the black stuff that NAPA sells. Cheers,

Hail Guzzisti, Sorry I've been a stranger...Recently moved, new job, etc. Haven't ridden my ambo for a while. It needs some TLC. I did get new header pipes for it...it's a project in the works The Loop List rules, so here goes:I have an 850 T that I bought a couple of years ago. I just got some chrome header pipes from MG cycle for it, and I got a fantastic deal on some Bub muflers at mud spattered Mid Ohio last summer....one problem- the header pipes are a smaller diameter than the mufflers by about 1/8 to 1/4th of an inch...does anybody know of any source for adapters I can get to mate them together with? I checked JC Whitney on the advice of MG Cycle, but it doesn't look like they have anything like that. Any replies and or help is appreciated. |
