Chuck,
It could be your forks are bottoming out. Did you drain and replaced the
fluid in them?

After letting the old oil steep with some seal softener, it was changed out yesterday, and the valves received their final tweak. Bike idles well, runs smoothly...Took it out for a night ride just for the heckuvit. It's a pretty amazing bike - it feels like it wants to run forever. Must be the thump-thump cadence of the motor; my boxers never felt like that; they're smooth but buzzy. UJM's are a different animal altogether; they make you feel like a GP racer at 35 MPH. Giuseppe has this stretched out smooth feel about him; makes 60 feel relaxed - like 25 MPH. Niice - can't wait to get some fresh skins on him and let him unwind down some long country road. The little issues? There are three: 1) Got on the footpegs and jumped up and down on the bike while potting along at 40; there's a clunk in the front suspension. it's not headset bearings - I checked that. Any hints what a front suspension clunk could be? 2) While at idle, the breather diaphragm makes this clattering noise. I've been all over the bike with a mechanic's stethescope; it's not top end, bottom end, or neutral gear rattle. Is there a way to quiet the breater? The bike would be awesome if this could be resolved - I had a similar issue with an R75/5 and solved it by drilling a small pilot hole in the breather reed. The pilot kept the reed seated at idle - and quiet! 3) Got a little bit of off-idle hesitation. I'm attributing this to timing, but it could be the shooters for the accel pumps. Is there a way to adjust the shot? Hesitation, rattles and squeaks are my pet peeves. Just bought my wife a BMW Z3 and spent the first weekend eradicating 8 out of 9 interior rattles. Makes a huge difference as to how one percieves a ride as tight and quiet = great, while a good ride can be considered a POS simply because stuff ain't bolted toghether right. My two cents...YMMV.
