As someone already posted, the key to running the stock switch is to take
the load off of it by putting relays in the headlight bucket. Wire it so
the handle bar switch only powers the relay coils. The relay contacts to
the heavy work thereby preventing the switch meltdown that would other wise
occur. I do this as standard practice on all my loops.
