JC Whitney sells them or do a Google search for "Bosch Blue Coil". Also
can stop by most any magazine rack and look through Hot Vws or one of
the other VW mags - lots of advertisers with Blue Coils.
It's worth the effort to find one in my opinion - I had an Echlin brand
one from NAPA fail three months after I installed it. The Blue Coil's
winding are epoxy encased (I think?) versus oil filled in most others.
One has been on the '69 for nearly 7 yrs. and 40k miles now, another is
on the project bike. Wouldn't use anything else.
Note: Just because it's blue and a Bosch coil doesn't been it's a Bosch
Blue Coil. There are cheapies in Bosch boxes that are no better than the
Echlin. Easiest way to tell is to shake it - if it sloshes it ain't the
Blue Coil. Cheers,

From: thomas halchuk [mailto:halc-@comcast.net] Hi I am on yet another computer so I don't have the old emails regarding alternate coils for a loop. I belive there was a Sorenson that was being widely used, such as the one on Charlie M's loop project. Can you email the model # , cost etc. A 40K volt thanks |
