I finally got enough free time to work on my Bronze Beauty and get the input hub off....what a pain! The amazing part is that when I called MG to get the new hex nut, they sent it in two days!!! Very helpful those MG Cycle boys are! Anyway, as I am preparing to reassemble, I have a few questions for all you brilliant Guzzi minds out there...
1) What is the threaded hole in the center of the crankshaft for? As I survey everything that was unbolted and neatly lying there waiting for re-assembly, I can't for the life of me remember what came off there, if anything. The RAM clutch fits nicely to the six threaded holes that surround the center one, but what is that center one for?
2) I know that universal joints have been discussed on and off before, but mine has a tiny bit of slop in one side, (the tranny side). I have replaced/rebuilt u-joints on cars before, but am apprehensive to rip into this one. Is it rebuild-able? Should it be disassembled. or can it be without too much hassle?
3) If I do take it apart, can I use white lithium grease in it or what should I use?
4) I looks reversible,.... is it? Or does it have to go in the way it came out? I ask this because if it does wear more on the tranny side is it a good idea to flip it around as to get more life out of it, or is this an idea that I would be cast into Guzzi hell for all eternity for?
Thanks in advance,
Bill
