Gerard,
Tell us more about this problem your having. Before diving in and having
things machined that may not need it, run it by us again. Idling problems
can stem from a number of different factors. Fuel, air and spark are all you
need to make a bike run. Bad connections, weak spark and bad springs in the
distributor can all lead to poor idling and running. I for one prefer to
check the cheap parts BEFORE I look at doing leak down tests etc. Condensers
are notorious for being bad right from the box and can have you scratching
your head for days. A loose connection on my coil had me occupied for a few
days till I found it. It caused the bike to lurch and run rough at speed and
idle, not all the time but when it wiggled loose it was as if the bike was
possessed. Worn components in the carbs can cause you grief in getting
things dialed in just right.

A while back I posted about my El Dorado's difficulty idling steady.
