Hi,
Spent the day with Stan Friduss in his shop in Gainesville, FL. The
Daytona vintage racing for his Guzzis was a mixed bag of success and
disaster. Two bikes went down, one burning badly after an apparent tank
rupture. I saw the bike today and it aint pretty. It was the former
Raceco bike, 1230 cc on a hand built frame. I also talked to the rider
today by phone and he's ok, thankfully, and looking forward to the next
race.
The other bike to ride the pavement was the orange used-to-be 1100 Sport
that won last year's Nat'l Championship. Both are fixable, of course,
but not without a bunch of work.
Saturday Stan had to jump in his van and make a run back to G'ville for
parts before the races began on Monday. He made contact with a deer on
Rt 40 coming home through the Ocala Forest late at night. Also not
pretty.
The good news is that Will Harding, an AHRMA co-founder and 5 time Nat'l
Champ in hand shift class and genuine crazyman, placed 7th in
Heavyweight Vintage class on the old LeMans I and Andrew Murray won his
race in Middle Weight.
The next race is Willow Springs, California if the money holds out. It's
already been a very expensive season!

I also finished shimming my Eldo rear drive while we talked and had Stan
check my work each step until it was done. Not too bad, really. I
actually feel I understand it now. Much thanks to Greg Bender for all
the great advice and encouragement and for having so much solid info on
his website. A very satisfying day. Beats the hell out of working,
although I'm paying for it in pain in my shoulder and arm as we speak.
My surgeon would kill me and charge me double if he knew what I was
doing.
