I know how you feel. In the mid 80s the Buddy Rich band came to our little
town of Claremore Oklahoma to play at our small college. My dad encouraged
me to go see him because I was a drummer. I didn't for the same reason. Now
as a jazz fan (started listening to jazz a few years after he came to town)
I kick myself whenever I think of the lost opportunity.

Back in the late 80's and early 90's, I spent 5 summers in the Seattle
area - camp couselor, internship, etc. My Dad strongly encouraged me to
visit the Nolans, knowing that I would really enjoy them. I never did.
I've no good excuse except youth. Now that I live nearly as far away
from Seattle as a person can (and still be in the continintal US), I
wish I had taken the time to meet them. My Dad still visits them
whenever his trucking trips take him up that way.
Ah well, I'll just add that to the list of things I should have done
differently in my life. :>
