No, you leave the rear drive attached to the drive shaft housing. You
remove the two large pivot pins that the swingarm pivots on just behind
the transmission. Then the entire swingarm and rear drive system with
the drive shaft and U-joint contained inside, slides backwards, hanging
off the two shock absorbers. Easiest to do if you take the wheel off
first as well.
