Hi Brian,
I spent some time on the phone with NGK recently asking just this
question. In the end, I think it is a mistake on their end since they
recommend only 3/4" reach for the V7 and Eldo models. I'm sure your bike
will run just fine with either one, but the 3/4" reach is probably
preferred because it puts the spark closer to the middle of the
combustion chamber. Also, NGK recommends a cooler plug (a 7 on their
scale) with a gap of .028 for the V7 and Ambo and a hotter plug (a 6 on
their scale) with a gap of .025 for the Eldo. But, when I try cross
references from the Guzzi books, the nearest I can come to is that Guzzi
recommends the BP6ES with a gap of .023 for all loops - this is what I
use on my Ambo. Hope this helps - but it really just muddies the waters
more.

I searched the archived messages and didn't see this come up- I went to get some plugs for an ambo i am working on, and I have used the ngk BP6ES in the past- they didn't have them- looked at the cross reference and there were two- for 3/4" reach and 1/2" reach (and this was a specific option for Moto Guzzi 750cc Ambassador in the plug book)- I don't have any old plugs to compare- anybody know why there are two available and what they aare applicable to?
