V50's are great bikes. I would hold out for a series 3 or a Monza, as they
were the better bikes with all the improvements and larger valves, carbs,
and exhaust than the earlier models. The V50-1 had some quality control
issues and the V50-2 was better but was still under powered compared to the
V50-3 and it also had a troublesome electronic ignition and the front master
cyl was mounted under the tank, which was a headache. The V50-3 went back
to the points system and mounted the front master on the bars. To really
make them run you need to open up the exhaust and install a Dyna S with the
Dyna coils.

Hey all,
My wife has expressed some interest in getting a smaller Guzzi such as a
V50. Any experience out there as far as what to look out for on these
bikes? For instance, are they subject to the same cylinder flaking
issues as loops?
Thanks for your input,
Rob
