Hi,
Daytona Vintage racing is March 7 & 8 at the Speedway. I just spent the
day at Stan's in Gainesville on saturday, while he and crew were
building 4 race Guzzis at the same time. Pretty entertaining. I was
unable to assist due to my recent arm surgery but got a few photos
before my pain level stopped me. I hope to be there on Tuesday for
races. I scored a press pass so I'll push hard thru the pain.
Will Harding, an original founder of AHRMA, and racer, will ride one of
Stan's bikes again after sitting on his '36 Indian for several years. I
suspect the lack of competition (boredom) is behind his switch, as he
won 5 nationals in a row on the Indian. I've ridden approx 6 of my early
riding years on Indians and Harleys with foot clutch, tank shift, and as
comfortable as I am with that style, I can't imagine racing that way!
Anyway, should be a good two days at the track for vintage racing. If
you make it there on Tuesday, and of course if I make it (I should be
well enough by then), feel free to dial my cell when you get to the
track if you want to hook up and meet. I'd like that.
