Yeah I thinking about it a little. Here's my convoluted thought process:
All this discussion about polishing and I'm in the garage staring at my
bike. As I have said before, I love the Ambo, but the white paint is still
growing on me. Its newly painted, so I am not going to change that. My
problem with white is that chrome/polished aluminum just doesn't contrast
well. Not like chrome on black. Now some may disagree, but that's my
personal opinion. The chrome just gets lost in the white, like bright white
on eggshell white. But black against white is SHARP. Black seat, black
saddle bags, black dash (even black face instruments). I'd consider a black
engine, but I haven't heard too many good things on this list about black
engines. Call me a minamalist, I'd like to keep the polish just around the
engine. Another thought, I have an extra set of exhaust pipes and one thing
I want to do later on is replace the current ones with all black pipes and
mufflers with chrome tips.
So after looking at John's recently posted pics, I'm thinking, "I need
something other than shiny wheels." So first I started something like the
wheels on a LeMans. But that didn't feel right. Then I saw this pic in some
history of bikes book (not the Greg Field book, but it looks like it is
probably the same bike). And I said, "that's it!" Black tire, white disk,
black drums! I should probably try to photoshop it first to see if I would
really like the look.
So I thought I would ask about handling problems. It's a neat idea unless I
hear, "shakes above 45, wouldn't ride over a bridge."
So I guess just a wild and crazy thought out loud. Hmmm....maybe skirts?
Thanks,
-AJ

I think many Walneck magazine vendors would stock such wheels. Obviously, look in the American section first. Are you thinking this is a real possibility? Bob |
