I'm on the road now at least 90% of the time for my job. I usually haul my Ambo with to ride while staying in what ever town I'm in. I'm thinking a Falcone would be a little easier to load/unload in the van. Are they much lighter? Anyone know anyone selling one? As usual, I don't need a pretty one. JB |
John -
I've ridden a couple, and been looking for a reasonable one for a long
time. Two things -
1) They are almost as heavy as the big twins, everything's overbuilt on
it.
2) There aren't any "ratFalcones" out there. 99% of them are imported
here from England, and they all cost the same thing, about $4500 for a
runner. They've gotten worse with the exchange rate being what it is,
used to be you could buy a ex-military NF that Mdina Italia or North
Leicester cycles had taken out of the box and cleaned up for 1900
English pounds, which WAS about $2700 but is now more like $3300, and
it's about $1200 to bring it over here, maybe $1500 depending on whether
you pick it up at a port. So that's where the price comes from.
But good luck anyway, maybe with charm and personality you can
sweet-talk someone out of a decent one for a good price. A little JB
Weld on the flywheel cover and off you go...
