Musings on a cold afternoon.....If you don't like to ride if the teperature is under 50 degrees, or in the rain, are you a real biker or just a wannabe? |
I'd say that if 50 degrees and rain is the limit, you're a wannabe.
'Course, someone else will tell me that my lack of desire to ride on
glare ice at -25 degF makes ME a wannabe.
Funny thing is, both are right.
Do you have to like camping out? |
Like it or actually do it? I don't LIKE camping but I do it because
it's part of the rally experience.
Suppose you can't or won't tear into your tranny to change the clutch, can you still hold your head high? Is being able to rebuild a carb enough? |
That's a tough one. The guys who tear into trannys have a lot more to
talk about together than the guy who uses a cellphone and checkbook to
work on his bike. There'll be times when the guy who doesn't know
anything about his bike's innards won't be able to participate in the
discussion. Does this make him "lower class" than the gearheads? No.
Can he end up feeling "left out" even in a sociable bunch? Yes.
... Seems to me that the more people there are out there on two wheels the better it is for all of us. |
Think about THAT one for a minute. You really think that having the
diversity of squids doing 100 MPH wheelies in freeway traffic and
weaving around scaring drivers to death, or having bearded 50%ers (used
to be 1%ers but there's a lot of pretenders now) flipping people off and
screaming cusswords at the citizens, you think that's better for all of
us? I don't think so.
You choose your own friends, and just because someone rides doesn't make him someone you want to have over your house. ......Guzzi guys excepted, of course........ Vince in NY |
Right!
