Lannis, Like what you said and how you said it. And..... I just made a crack about a guy owning a Harley in a e-mail I just sent out. The main thing I hate about Harley Davidson Corp. is that it supports, engenders, encourages, markets and promotes the concept and the behaviour of "POSING" and it rewards it as well!!! I hate that!!! I actually don't just hate it I loath it!!! H-D Corp. makes motorcyclists stupid! This is a genetic problem I have that I won't apologize for. I hate that which is not genuine. Posing bites big time! Ride Guzzi, or Ride Stupid - Bob |

Just goes to show that motorcycling isn't just riding down the road on a
machine, it's people too.
If H-D hadn't started marketing fake lifestyles instead of motorcycling,
I absolutely would be riding a Harley Davidson right now. I had three
of them ('54 and '65 panhead dressers, and an '84 shovelhead belt-drive
dresser) on which I put about 100,000 miles total. I like the way they
look, ride, run, the fact that the same transmission fits from '48 to
'84, you can ALWAYS get parts for them, any part anywhere, and a
well-built one will sit out on the highway and chug forever.
It's the fake people that I meet on them that turns me off, especially
the fact that they expect ME to be a fake too and have the same poser
attitude as they do. Often when I ride somewhere a long way off, it's
nice to meet and foregather with like-minded folks at the end. At a
Guzzi rally, that's always a pleasant experience, so far without
exception. At an H-D rally, well, if you've been there....
As token of my affection for H-Ds, my current Police Eldo feels more
like a 70s FLH than a 70s FLH does, except it goes around turns better
and parts are sometimes harder to find......
